Duck Pond's Frequently Asked Questions
By Dan on 17 Sept 2024
I’ve put together the following page to help answer the most common questions I receive. Please don’t be insulted if I send you here instead of directly answering your email. If your question isn’t here, please feel free to reach out to me at Dan@magicduckpond.com. you can also try contacting me through one of my social media pages.
What is the Magic Duck Pond?
The Magic Duck Pond is my own community of players, gms and creators. It's a platform and space I curate and develop with the goal of creating a collective tool set and support network for GMs.
The Duck Pond also functions as a space for players to join in games in worlds I and my fellow ducks have made with the added security that each host is approved by myself and the team.
Who is Dan?
That's me, the big duck of the pond. I'm a director for bars and cafés by trade but in my free time I try to craft worlds, zines and any content that can be used for TTRPGs. If I ever get the option to become a full time designer I would.
I have a question about running tabletop roleplaying games.
The best place to get answers from me about general RPG questions, running games, or other advice is through the posts I make on this website or through my Patreon page. Questions asked on the Patreon get add to a list that I'll respond too in time.
How can I join your games?
You can submit a player application through this form you'll be invited when spaces come up. You can also subscribe to the Patreon for instant access to my Discord and the chance of getting invited to games directly.
Where can I find more of your stuff?
The best way to follow the stuff I make is to:
- Join the Patreon and get access to the discord and my premium content.
- Add this JSON or this index page to file to an RSS feed to get updates when new articles are made.
- Buy my books and zines when they are released on DriveThroughRPG it's a direct way to support the pond and get the content.
- Follow the Quack RPG podcast and live plays through my socials.
I have a product or Kickstarter I’d like you to review.
don’t take compensation for products or Kickstarters I spotlight through the Duck Pond, and I can’t spotlight every product or Kickstarter I receive.
You are free, if you wish, to send me a digital version of your product or sample through my email address is dan@magicduckpond.com.
I have far more products and Kickstarters in my stack than I can ever spotlight. Don't be insulted if I don’t spotlight your product – it's no judgement on your product.
Can you promote my group, project or other?
I can't promote outside fundraising activities or programs on my shows, Patreon, articles, or newsletters. Even though many such services are often fantastic for the RPG community, promoting fundraising activities could end up overwhelming my output and puts our community at risk if such programs take money and don’t deliver. However, I can highlight and promote groups and communities that don't need payment or membership fees.
I have a problem with a product I ordered or backed on Kickstarter.
Contact through the seller profile or merchants support line. I can only resolve issues when the product is bought though one of my own platforms.
